AzMeCo representatives attended the event dedicated to the memory of January 20
On January 19, 2015, representatives of AzMeCo participated in a commemorative event dedicated to the "January 20" tragedy, held in the Lokbatan Settlement of the Garadagh district. The event, which took place at the Palace of Culture named after A. Amirov, was organized by the Executive Power of the Garadagh district.
During the night of January 19−20, 1990, Soviet troops invaded Baku and brutally attacked civilians. As a result, 137 people were killed, 744 were injured, and 841 were unlawfully arrested.
The tragedy of January 20 stands as an act of aggression against the Azerbaijani people’s aspiration for national independence. At the same time, it represents a heroic chapter in our history—an indelible tragedy etched into the nation’s collective memory. On that night, the people of Azerbaijan demonstrated to the world their resilience, unwavering loyalty to their homeland, and determination in the struggle for independence and freedom.
At the event, the cherished memory of those who heroically gave their lives for the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence.
