During the meeting, AzMeCo’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nizami Piriyev, emphasized the importance of developing the country’s petrochemical sector and the critical need for skilled local professionals. He noted that AzMeCo scholarship recipients would be offered employment opportunities at the company’s methanol plant in Garadagh—the first and only facility of its kind in the region. He also highlighted that third- and fourth-year scholarship recipients would have the chance to undergo practical training at the plant.

AzMeCo, founded in 2007, is a leading investor in petrochemical and large-scale industrial projects in Azerbaijan. In 2013, the company successfully completed and commissioned a state-of-the-art methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 720,000 tons. Methanol plants are recognized as among the cleanest and most environmentally friendly operations in the chemical industry.
