Representatives of Japan’s Mitsui Company Visit AzMeCo Methanol Plant
Representatives from Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s leading industrial conglomerates, visited the AzMeCo methanol plant located in the Garadagh district of Baku. During the visit, the Japanese delegation was given a comprehensive overview of the Azerbaijan Methanol Project and had the opportunity to closely observe the plant's advanced production processes.
Following the plant tour, a meeting was held between Mitsui executives and AzMeCo management, during which the parties discussed the economic potential of methanol and the future development prospects of the project.
The Japanese guests expressed their admiration for AzMeCo’s professionalism and technical achievement in successfully constructing the first methanol production facility of its kind in Azerbaijan, a project characterized by its complex infrastructure and adherence to international standards.

Mr. Hironobu Ishikawa, Chief Executive Officer for Mitsui’s operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, commented on the project:

Countries around the world are investing in similar modern facilities because methanol is both economically viable and environmentally advantageous—it truly is a fuel of the future. We are genuinely impressed that an Azerbaijani company has succeeded in building such a modern and remarkable plant.”
It is worth noting that prior to this visit, other major Japanese companies—including Mitsubishi and Japan Gasoline Corporation (JGC)—also visited the AzMeCo facility and expressed high praise for both the project and the supportive environment created by the Azerbaijani government for private enterprise.
