On November 21, 2012, at the invitation of Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo), representatives from the UK’s leading environmental consultancy, ERM (Environmental Resources Management), visited Azerbaijan.
The delegation, which included Mr. Glen Petitt and Mr. Doug Anderson, toured the Garadagh methanol plant—the first and only facility of its kind in the country—and visited AzMeCo’s stand at the 3rd International Exhibition on Environmental Protection – “Technology for the Caspian Environment”, held in Baku.
In interviews with local television media during the exhibition, the ERM representatives emphasized the environmental advantages of the methanol economy and praised AzMeCo's role in promoting clean energy and sustainable chemical production in the region. They highlighted the significance of the AzMeCo methanol project as a major contribution to Azerbaijan’s rapidly developing economy, noting its compliance with modern environmental and technological standards.
Following the exhibition, a roundtable discussion was held with the participation of ERM representatives, prominent scientists from the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after Academician Y. Mammadaliyev, as well as experts from government agencies and members of Azerbaijan’s scientific and intellectual community. During the session, ERM presented on methanol production and environmental protection, followed by an interactive Q&A with attendees.
The visit and exchange further reinforced AzMeCo’s commitment to international collaboration and environmental leadership in the chemical industry.
